Friday.

Last weekend we visited friends who live in the country. I made photo’s of these  old farmhouses . I like the form of these houses. The roofs are built like a pyramid. I can’t find the proper English word for it. There are many of these farmhouses in the north west of our country.
And I have another sunrise I want to show you.

Beautiful sky, Riet, and the farmhouses are wonderful, - just think of all the attic space in that type of roof!

Liefs
Josephine ♥

Hi Riet,

They have what looks like a pyramid roof! Beautiful photos! I love old farmhouses with creaky floor boards and peeling paint. My grandparents had a two storied farmhouse with an upstairs, how I loved going there. Two of the bedrooms were connected by one big walk in closet that we used to play in. Oh the fun we had in there hiding and playing games. :)

Have a great weekend!

Dat is echt een mooie boerderij, Riet.
Maar die sprookjesachtig mooie zonsopkomst steelt vandaag de show.
Maak er een mooi weekend van.

Fijn weekend.

Those roofs would shed the snow so easily, no matter which way the wind blew it! And they are so interesting, as well!
The sunrise is simply breathtaking!!

I'd say that "pyramid" is a good word to describe this type of roof. These houses look lovely and quaint. Your sunset shot is gorgeous!

Those roofs are extraordinary, I have never seen ones like that before. The sunrise is beautiful. I seldom ever see a sunrise as we have a couple of houses in the way. May be I should get up early and go walking :) Take care and have a good weekend. Diane

Good Morning Riet,

Thanks for linking up once again with Green Day.

I am sorry that I have not been around for the last week or so
but I have my Mum staying with me at the moment and feel guilty
if I don't give her my time and so haven't been on the computer much.

Hope all is well with you.

I will have so much catching up to do
when Mum goes home that it will take me until Christmas
to get through all the posts I have missed!

Have a lovely holiday
a cruise sounds wonderful - enjoy

x Fiona

I know what you mean about not being able to find the right word Riet--and I'm supposed to since speak English. This is one reason that I want to keep on with blogging and other social media as grow older. Keep your mind active to have to organize thoughts in print.

As for the house shape--no idea what this style of architecture is called--looks like an open floor plan with some sky lights? Do you get enough snow in the Netherlands that the roof would need to be that pitched?

Enjoy your travels. Hope you see many beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the water. I'm right behind you the first of Sept. :-)

The farmhouses are quite interesting with the symetrical steep roofs. I think that pyramid is a good description and I am not sure what we would call that type of roof.

It would surely have much attic space for a special room!

Genie

Hello Riet, I have had company and tomorrow I will be driving 3 hours to go the the airport for my friend's flight home. We are country people too.

I love the farm house so much. Your description of the roof is perfect. There isn't a better English word for the roof. Smile. The photos are charming and I know you had a lovely time with your friends.

Have a wonderful cruise Riet. We sure are looking forward to our cruise this Dec. I am still hoping for us to meet in Amsterdam.

I have had a wonderful and very busy summer. I'm afraid I have not visited much on my blog and I have missed you.
xo, Jeanne
