Pink Saturday.

Beverly from “How sweet the sound” is the host of that very popular meme Pink Saturday.  She asked this week for anything spring like  and I am sure I show spring here.  We have had beautiful  spring weather here lately so everything is blooming to the fullest. We have been to The Keukenhof this week, the largest most beautiful only bulbs garden in the world. It is only open for two months in  springtime because only then flowers like tulips and daffodils and hyacinths are in bloom. Thousands of people from all over the world do visit in this time.

This is only a very small impression of what is shown in the park.  I have a lot more to show but that will come in the next few days.

For more pink Saturday participants go here.

For more springflowers please scroll down a bit.

Hello dear Riet
How magnificent are the tulips? Only in Holland, yes only in your beautiful country.
Interesting trivia for you. I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada as you might remember,
In 1943 Princess Margriet Francisca. the younger sister of the current Queen of the Netherlands, was born at Ottawa Civic Hospital - the only royal ever to be born in North America. The Dutch Royal Family had fled to Canada in 1940 after the WWII invasion of their country. Among their problems - the expected royal child needed to be delivered on Dutch territory to be a Dutch citizen. So, Canada ceded this one hospital maternity room temporarily to the Netherlands. In appreciation, in the fall of 1945, Princess Juliana of the Netherlands presented Ottawa with 100,000 tulip bulbs. And now each year Ottawa receives 20,000 tulip bulbs from the Royal Family and the Dutch Bulb Growers, a thank you for sheltering the Royal Family and for Canada's help with liberation of the Netherlands during WWII. Now the gardens of Ottawa burst into bloom each year in early May as the city celebrates the largest tulip festival,
See I bet you didn't know you knew someone here in Ottawa that appreciates your tulips so much : )
Happy Happy Easter my dear friend.
Love Claudie

Dag Riet,
Lieve groet, Marja
