Old city Dordrecht.

Its been a while since I was here but sometimes life gets in the way .But here I am with a few new photo's.
A few days ago we had an appointment with somebody in one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands,  Dordrecht. It was founded around the year of 1220 .I heard it has a beautiful old city center so I took my camera of course. We didn't have much time and the weather was bad but I still could make a few photo's.

The photo's on he mosaic are of the big church . We  didn't have time to visit it  but I at least wanted to make  a few photo's.To my surprise there was a married couple with photographers and their bridesmaids and on the photo top left you can see how stormy it was. The bride almost lost her umbrella and the little bridesmaids were hanging on the wedding dress, lol. They had fun, tho.  lol.
The inside of the church must be very beautiful so I wil definitely go visit it one day.

This is the also very old townhall and such a beautiful building.I  didn't have  time to take more photo's from different  angles but will do that some day soon.

This is a beautifull old house. The old street is so narrow that I could not get it on  a photo standing right in front of it. Most streets in the old  center are car free , only people who need to be here for work have a permit. I suppose it will save the buildings.

This photo is taken from far so not really clear.

Liefs, Ingrid

This is a beautiful old city Riet. I loved every photo you took of it. To think that the city was founded in the 1200's is amazing to me because of being here in the US. I love the architecture of the buildings there.
The Netherlands is a beautiful place and I love that I can see it through your eyes.
much love from me....

Lieve Rietje,

It is always a delightful find to run across a wedding or wedding pictures being taken. It's happened to me a couple of times.

Mooi Riet! Mooi vastgelegd Riet! Beslist terug gaan!!!

Hello Riet,
Dordrecht is a very beautiful old city. The house on the narrow street has wonderful window details and brickwork. It's nice that there are no cars on the street to block the view. Have a wonderful week!

Fijne week!

Hello Riet, nice to have you join MM again. The old church is magnificent in architecture and I hope you do get back to see the inside. Isn't is amazing to gaze upon buildings that are so old yet still in good condition? This says a lot for the stone masons and bricklayers back then.
Thank you for linking to Mosaic Monday.

Hello Riet,
It looks like a lovely place to visit! I thought the first photo was from England until I read the post.

I feel sorry for the bride struggling with her veil in that wind.

What beautiful old architecture! These buildings which are hundreds of years old area credit to their makers- skills which seem to be lost today. Modern buildings don't seem to last 50 years!! I hope you will get back to see the interior of that wonderful church.

Hello. I am Ann, visting from Mosaic Monay. As a little girl, I read Hans Christian Anderson stories and always wanted to visit the Netherlands. Your country is beautiful. I live on the prairie of northern Colorado where it is flat farmland, East of us are the great grasslands; to the west in view are the Rocky Mountains. We are known as Ski Country, but we have a lot of wide open spaces. I love the antiquity of your homeland and your photos are charming.

Really great shots Riet! The streets without cars reminds me of Mackinaw Island in Michigan. There are no cars allowed and you have to use the ferry to get there. It is a place I hope to visit someday soon. You have agreat week. Thanks for sharing.
