Alphabe Thursday.

Unlike most weeks I have only one word for Ms Matlocks class. We study the letter O and I found Organ.
I have some photo’s in a collage of the  wonderful organ in the King’s College Chapel in Cambridge,England. I made these  last year when we visited the beautiful chapel. The organ was built in the 17th century on the choir gate and is decorated with two trumpet blowing angels. The choirgate that separates the choir from the rest of the chapel is beautiful tudor woodwork. Whenever you go to England  visit Cambridge and the King’s college chapel with its stunning fan shaped ceiling and leaded glass windows all around. The worldfamous choir performs every day during service.Top left photo is the chapel, bottom left is the choir.

I will show more photo’s of the chapel in the future.

Walking in Amsterdam.

Today I am entering three memes so I had to find a photo that was good for all three.  I found it.
This is the Raadhuisstraat in Amsterdam centre, very well known and not far away from The Royal Palace.
On the other side of the road is the Westerkerk (Westerchurch) and in one or two windows on the right side of the photo you can see reflections of it.
We did live in the neighborhood when I had only one baby many many years ago so when we went for a walk we often passed these shops . Nothing really changed here.

Our world Tuesday.

Most people by now know we have WINTER here. It is cold, very cold.
I want to show you two photo’s here that I took out of my windows on the 12th floor. Snow, and ice. We have lots of ice and all the kids love it. They play with there sleighs or they are iceskating on frozen little pools or streams  together or with their parents who also all do skate.. This is all typical Dutch wintertime joy and passtime. It is so much fun.

Mosaic and blue Monday.

We have winter here . The coldest in more than 25 years.  We had  one day of snow but it is only freezing  now.. The temperature during the night goes down till at least -15 * Celsius and during the day it will be about
- 6*. So very cold. Most little streams, canals and many lakes are frozen. It is wonderful for people who love to skate and for the children of course. Most kids do skate so they are having a great time.
As for me, I stay inside as much as possible. I made a mosaic of photo’s I made yesterday just here around our building.

Alphabe Thursday.

Alphabe Thursday is hosted by Ms Jenny Matlock. This week we study the letter K.

Today my letter K goes for KEUKENHOF. It is the largest flower garden in the world and famous for its spring bulb displays. There are over 7 million flower bulbs planted anually.  Also in the park are  about 150 sculptures   made by local and foreign artists.

We visited the Keukenhof last year and the year before last. The first time we went in March and these photo’s were taken then. There were not so many flowers like tulips out in the gardens as it was still cold. So most of my photo’s here I took in the glass houses, like the orchids and the hyacinths amongst many other sorts. And of course there were tulips and daffodils inside  too.

If ever you can visit Holland come in spring so you can see the Keukenhof. It is something you will never forget. I am definitely going again this year.
