A few days ago we visited a lovely little city not far from us called Schoonhoven.
Schoonhoven is renowned for its silver, hence it is nicknamed “Zilverstad” (Silvercity), home of the Dutch Silver museum and the International silver school
We didn’t have enough time
that day so we will be going back soon and visit the silver and clock museum.
Here just a collection of what we saw during our short walk.
This is the medieval townhall with its carillon of 50 bells.
The 17th century ferry gate . The wooden doors are closed when it is high tide.
On my next photo there is a memorial
of the 1953 waterflood storm.. It shows how high the water came here in Schoonhoven. during the biggest nature disaster of all time her in Holland.
