St. Petersburg (Russia) #1

Today  I am making a start with showing photo’s from the beautiful city of St. Petersburg. We took an excursion bus tour that lasted about 4 hours and I can tell you we have seen only a tiny little bit of what there is to see. There was a lot more to see with several different excursions but as my legs and feet are not what they used to be, I can only walk and stand a few minutes at a time, this was all we could choose. Most excursions were for a whole day ,in all other cities as well, and that is out of the question for me. I would have loved to visit the Hermitage, one of the most beautiful museums in the world, but that takes a lot of waiting and walking, so a no no for me.
But as I said we had this bustour and it was wonderful. We saw so many interesting things . I am just afraid that I don’t remember all of the things the guide told us. I mostly remember that St Petersburg is full of Palaces ,Cathedrals and bridges and all beautiful.
But I made photo’s and this is the first batch I am going to show. If I remember what’s on it I will put a name under it. And please google that name and you can find everything there. It is so interesting. I bought a book with photo’s and I trying to find out what it all is.

Riga, gem of the Baltics

Riga, capital of Latvia and  a beautiful city. What did I know about it? Practically nothing. And a visit of only a couple of hours doesn’t help so I read a bit about it.
But I have  photo’s to give a little impression.

Lithuania.

Our second stop was Klaipeda in Lithuania. Klaipeda is the third largest city in the country and has the northernmost port on the Baltic Sea.

If you want to know more about this very interesting city please try google.

We went for a walk and come and see what happened.

The bridge had to be opened for a sailboat. It seemed that at certain times of the day it was open for at least 15 minutes. So we walked on and I made a couple of photo’s.
