Stockholm, Sweden.

In Stockholm, the beautiful capital of Sweden where we also were last year,  we didn't go on an excursion but just walked a bit round the harbour and made some snapshots.

Skywatch Friday

This time of year we have the most beautiful skies . My camera is aways standing by so I can make a photo the minute I see it. And it has to be right away as a minute later it can be  all gone.

Here I have sundown Tuesday evening and the other ones are sunrise Wednesday morning.

St Petersburg, Russia # 2

Today, in my second post, I want to show you a few of the beautiful churches or cathedrals we saw here.. I am using a few photo's from last years trip because they look better. As I told you in my first post we only saw a little of St Petersburg but here are some views.

St Isaac's Cathedral
built between 1818 and 1858

Top of St Isaac's cathedral.

Just a little piece of the front of Church on the spilled blood.

The Sts Peter and Paul fortress and Cathedral.

This was the only church we could visit. The interior is so stunningly beautiful I will show that in another post.

A few photo's of the St Nicolas cathedral, so beautiful and so blue.

I don't know which church this was. There is so much to see and too much to remember. Couldn't find it in my book of St Petersburg.

St Petersburg, Russia.

And then we visited beautiful St Petersburg. We were here last year as well but there is so much to see that we made another bus and boat trip through the city. My legs and feet are not what they used to be some years ago  so sadly enough no  long walking excursions for me. But this was fine too.
I start with just a few snaps here and there. St Petersburg was crowded as you can see.

Please click on photo's to enlarge them.

Numerous bridges over the river Teva that goes through and round te city.

Yes, the Swedish shop, here too.

There was a lot of rebuilding work I suppose but is was all neatly covered by these large painted cloths.

Here two photo's of little parts of the beautiful Church of the spilled Blood ( Church of the Resurrection). Stunning art and handwork. I will post a picture of the whole church next time together with a few more churches.

Kopenhagen.

As you might know we went on  a cruise in July to the Baltic sea.Our first stop was the beautiful city  of Kopenhagen. We have been there before but visited other places this time. Let me show you.

Thse little houses were built around 1630 for navy personel. They were very wel kept and still houses navy and army personel. Of course updated but still...

This is called new harbour and I love these colorfull houses.

This little train is bringing visitors to the Little Mermaid, known from the Hans Christian Anderson tales.

And here she is,so lovely.

And this 8 km long bridge was new to me, it connects the city of Kopenhagen with the city of Malmo in Sweden. It was built in 2000.
